Our corporate baseball club team, the GXA Skyhawks (based in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture), provided baseball supervision for the TBS Sunday drama “Gekokujo Kyūji,” which will air on Sunday, October 15th at 9 PM. Our involvement included supervising the March training sessions, overseeing the auditions for the roles of the baseball players, supporting the training of the lead actor Ryohei Suzuki and other key players, as well as supervising the script. “Gekokujo Kyūji” is a dream human entertainment drama that explores the issues and various forms of love found in modern society’s education, communities, and families through the lens of high school baseball.
Synopsis:
In March 2016, Shūji Nagumo (played by Ryohei Suzuki), a well-respected social studies teacher at Mie Prefectural Koshiyama High School, was approached to become the advisor and coach of the baseball team starting the following school year. However, the baseball team consists mainly of unmotivated ghost members, with only one dedicated player. Additionally, Nagumo is determined to prioritize his time at home with his wife Mika (Haruka Igawa) and their two children, and he firmly refuses to accept the role of advisor. Meanwhile, Kanako Yamazumi (Hana Kuroki), the new home economics teacher, is eager to strengthen the baseball team alongside Nagumo. She starts recruiting talented middle school athletes even before they take the entrance exams. Among them is Shō Inuzuka (Motoki Nakazawa), the grandson of a local influential figure and former ace of an elite club team, who ends up enrolling at Koshiyama after failing to get into a top-tier school. As Nagumo reluctantly starts helping with the baseball team, his once peaceful life begins to undergo significant changes…
